Chill Out! at Central Park Zoo
Come to Central Park Zoo this weekend for their biggest summer event. Chill Out! is an event at the zoo celebrating all things icy, from frozen treats to polar bears, penguins, and puffins to ice carving. First, at 1:00 pm, there is an “Ice Chefs” competition, where two central park zookeepers face off to make the best ice cake for the bears, and the chef whose treat gets consumed first wins. Next, ice carvers from Ice Fantasies in Brooklyn carve ice sculptures of some favorite zoo animals from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm. On the main stage, there will be two wildlife theater performances about polar bears and penguins, respectively, from 10:45 am to 4:15 pm. Finally, throughout the day, the zoo residents will receive vegetable popsicles and other tasty snacks, while you can enjoy some icy treats in the Leaping Frog Café. It’s gonna be hot this weekend, so it’s a great time to go “chill out” at the zoo!
