Christmas for Jews at JCC’s Friday Night Dinner
The Jewish Community Center (Amsterdam at 76th) is holding a special dinner tomorrow night. The first-ever Shabbat Shabbang at the JCC will feature food, movies, discussion, and fun games for the kids. Keeping true to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan’s Christmas tradition (when asked about her whereabouts on Christmas Day 2009 at her Senate confirmation hearing, she replied: “You know, like all Jews, I was probably at a Chinese restaurant.”), enjoy a kosher Chinese buffet, starting at 7:00 pm. During dinner, choose from three programs: a dinner discussion with Elana Stein Hein, full-time Community Scholar at Lincoln Square Synagogue and a doctoral candidate in religion at Columbia University, with the topic of the ways Jews have incorporated Christmas throughout the centuries; a screening of three acclaimed Israeli short films during dinner; or a dinner followed by races, relays, and recreation. The event is open to all, and is $18 per person.
