Cirque du Soleil’s Banana Shpeel May Actually Open this Week

After several delays due to a need for “retooling” some performance elements in the show, Cirque du Soleil’s Banana Shpeel finally plans to kick off its limited engagement of shows this week. The production, a vaudeville-inspired show that “blends comedy with tap, hip hop, eccentric dance and slapstick, all linked by a hilarious narrative that ignites a succession of wacky adventures,” is slated to open on Thursday, April 29th, running through August 29th. It is the exclusive event at the Beacon Theatre (Broadway at 74th), and has shut down the theater to other performances since January, when the pre-production and setup began. Hopefully the show is a good one that will erase the memory of its negative setbacks that happened during pre-production.
Opens Thursday, April 29th, 2010, $35-$199
