Eighty One to Close

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

eighty-oneSo sad to say that Eighty One, Ed Brown’s fancy and delicious restaurant on 81st between Columbus and Central Park West, will be closing.  The New York Post reports that the restaurant, which (according to them) “served possibly the best food in the Upper West Side’s history,” will close its doors after Easter dinner service, taking place on April 4th. The restaurant seemed to partially fall victim to the lackluster economy, with customers viewing it as a “special-occasion place” and avoiding it on an everyday basis, even after they offered lower-priced food options from the original $30-plus entree charge.

Did you see an opening or closing on the UWS recently?  Tell us… send as much information as possible to “alerts [at] myupperwest.com,” and we might post it!
