Columbus Square Michaels Opens this Weekend
The much-buzzed about Columbus Square (808 Columbus, between 97th and 100th) retail and residential development has seen parts gradually open recently, from the apartments to the Whole Foods Market, and now arts and crafts store Michaels is ready to open! Although the store has already had a soft open according to The Shophound, the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, October 26th at 9:45 am, and many events are planned throughout the day to celebrate. At 11:00 am, there will be an American Girl® Make-It Take-It Workshop with Jo Pearson; at 12:00 pm, Megan Nicolay, author of Generation T, will conduct a demonstration and book signing; at 2:00 pm, there will be an in-store Adult Mask-Making Demo with Jo Pearson; at 4:00 pm, Margo Potter, author of The Impatient Beader, will conduct a demonstration and book signing; and at 7:00 pm, Ed Roth, author of STENCIL 101, will conduct a demonstration and book signing. In addition, there will be demos throughout the store and a Halloween t-shirt event. All events are free, so it will be a great day to come out and check out the new arts & crafts addition to the Upper West Side.
