Gary Faulkner poses outside 186 West 80th Street on Monday for the New York Post.

Okay, maybe it’s a little harsh to call him crazy outright.  On the other hand, he made it his own personal mission to capture Osama bin Laden.  Gary Faulkner, the Coloradan who was apprehended in Afghanistan on a solo mission to hunt bin Laden, is hanging around New York City this week, talking to the New York Post from an Irish pub on the Upper West Side on Monday.  Faulkner, who was caught near the Afghan border on June 13th with a pistol, a samurai sword, and a Bible, is in town for a visit and to make an appearance on David Letterman.  His Post interview doesn’t exactly make us think he is any less crazy… he claims that bin Laden “[wants] me as bad as I want him,” discusses having “visions” since he was 5 years old, and attempts to provoke al Qaeda and bin Laden, saying, “it’s his turn to step up.”  Faulkner won’t remain in New York City for long… he claims to attempt another capture on bin Laden within the year.
