Crumbs Scouting for Lincoln Center Expansion
You may have noticed that cupcake shop Crumbs is seemingly everywhere these days, and actually, that’s not far from the truth. The Observer reports that the food chain already has 50-plus locations throughout the city, and they aren’t stopping there. The store is reportedly scouting for several new locations, including one on the UES on Madison Avenue, one in Chelsea, one in the West Village, and a third Upper West Side location, in the Lincoln Center area (the shop has locations in the Columbus Square development at Columbus near 98th and at Amsterdam and 76th). These new locations are in addition to the six upcoming NYC locations with leases already signed. A representative for Crumbs as a tenant, Jeff Roseman, looks to the expansion and notes, “this shows cupcakes are not just a fad.” Indeed, if Crumbs can spread like wildfire despite an average cost of $4.50 and as many as 780 calories per cupcake, they must be onto something.
