Cutting Edge Concerts New Music Festival 2011
Come to Symphony Space (Broadway at 95th) starting Monday, March 28th to enjoy the Cutting Edge Concerts New Music Festival 2011. For over a decade, composer Victoria Bond has brought the finest performers and composers together in this festival, and this year’s series offers a vivid sampling of today’s music. Both composers who have established their reputation as new music’s superstars and rising young talents are featured in this diverse series, performed by the renowned Argento Ensemble, Da Capo Chamber Players, Del Sol String Quartet, MAYA and Sequitur. The Cutting Edge Concerts New Music Festival programs are almost entirely music by American composers. The Festival features world premieres by Hannah Lash, Daniel Godfrey, David Glaser and Jeffrey Mumford; a film by performance artist icon Laurie Anderson, with her original score, and works by acclaimed composer Victoria Bond, CEC’s founder and artistic director. Other highlights include a live Skype interview on stage with composer Ben Johnston and six New York premieres. The festival kicks off on Monday with he world premiere of Folk Songs by rising star Hannah Lash, performed by the extraordinary new music trio known as MAYA, consisting of Sato Moughalian (flute), Bridget Kibbey (harp) and John Hadfield (percussion). Tickets are $20, with discounts for students and seniors.
