A car plowed down Broadway last night, striking and killing a woman as it tried to flee from the police. ABC 7 reports that at least two people were in the Dodge Avenger that left a CVS on 86th and Amsterdam after shoplifting over-the-counter medication. Police spotted the car, whose license plate had been reported by a security guard, on 90th and began to pursue the car. The car took off, hitting and killing a 39-year-old woman who just got out of her SUV on 91st and Broadway. The car attempted to keep driving, hitting other cars before coming to a stop. Police apprehended the driver of the car, but are still searching for two passengers who fled on foot. The incident occurred at 7:50 pm last night, closing Broadway from 89th to 92nd for several hours. Charges are pending for the driver of the car.
