UPDATE 10/10: Accused Central Park Rapist Pleads “Not Guilty”; Allegedly Assaulted Two Other UWS Women On Day Of Attack

Posted yesterday that police had a suspect in custody in the case of Wednesday’s brutal daytime rape in Central Park.

After being picked out a lineup last night by the victim, David Albert Mitchell, 42, was arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court earlier today.

He was charged with first-degree rape, robbery, assault and other charges and is being held without bail.

This guy appears to be pretty much the epitome of evil and has spent most of his adult life in prison.

His lengthy criminal record dates back to 1989, when he was 18 and arrested for allegedly raping a woman in her 80s before beating her to death. He was later acquitted.

Mitchell was arrested a few months later and charged with raping a woman in her 70s and stealing her gun. The sexual assault charges were dropped as part of a plea bargain and he was sentenced to 10 years in prison, serving roughly eight.

He was a “person of interest” in a 2002 murder but was never charged.

He was finally sent back to prison in 2003 for eight years on kidnapping charges.

Thankfully this fucking psychopath is off the streets — hopefully this time for good.
