The Film Society of Lincoln Center Honors John Hughes
Starting September 19th, the Film Society of Lincoln Center marks the anniversary of an untimely death by celebrating the work of screenwriter/director John Hughes. Screenings of some of Hughes’ most memorable films on the first day will be followed by a very special film event on the second day. Come to the Walter Reade Theater (65th between Broadway and Amsterdam, upper level) on Sunday, September 19th for the Hughes film festival. Five films will be screened (Home Alone, Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and Planes, Trains & Automobiles), giving you a chance to see your favorite, or just go for a Hughes marathon (all day passes are $35). On Monday, September 20th, the celebration of John Hughes continues with a special 25th anniversary screening of The Breakfast Club. Cast members Anthony Michael Hall, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald, and Ally Sheedy will attend the event to take part in a post-screening panel, hosted by Kevin Smith. After the event, an after-party will take place at the Hudson Hotel’s Good Units (58th near 9th). While tickets are currently unavailable for the Monday event, additional tickets will be released tomorrow (Tuesday, August 10th) at 1:00 pm. Check the Film Society’s event page to try to snag some tickets.
