Deadheads and rock historians will love a current exhibition at the New York Historical Society (77th at Central Park West), “The Grateful Dead: Now Playing at the New York Historical Society.”  The exhibition, on view until September 5th, 2010, traces the career and achievements of a band that became one of the most significant cultural forces in 20th century America, The Grateful Dead.  Next Wednesday, in honor of both the exhibition and a flavor anniversary, the Ben & Jerry’s ice cream truck will be parked outside the society to give out free ice cream samples.  Come to the Ben & Jerry’s truck, which will be parked between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm, to get free New York Super Fudge Chunk (which is celebrating its 25th anniversary) or Cherry Garcia.
