Free Events in Riverside Park this Weekend
The weather this weekend is supposed to be spectacular, with highs tomorrow well into the 80’s, and Riverside Park has a full lineup of fun free events, so head west and enjoy the outdoors. First, tomorrow is the 7th Annual Swing-A-Ring Day at the park. Come to Hudson Beach (at 105th, lower level) to take advantage of the only traveling rings outside of California. The event includes free instruction on swinging rings, sand sculpting, unicycling, juggling, hula hooping, and more, along with free refreshments, snacks and music. Another great festival takes place on Sunday, when the Irish Arts Center is back for the 9th Annual NYC Irish Dance Festival (taking place at Pier I at 70th Street). See some fantastic Irish dance performances while taking part in workshops, crafts, Irish language classes, face painting, and more. Finally, lovers of orchestra can come to the 116th Street Overlook (on the lower level of the park) for the Spring Overlook Concert. The Columbia University Wind Ensemble will present a great program that ranges from the Renaissance to the present. It’s a great schedule of events this weekend, plus all are free, so what reason do you have not to check them out?
