Free Music Under New York Show Today

The Lincoln Square Business Improvement District (BID) and the MTA Arts for Transit are presenting a series of free concerts every Wednesday from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm through August in Richard Tucker Park (the triangle bordered by Broadway, Columbus, and 66th). Music Under New York (MUNY) is a set of quality performers selected through an audition process that put on great shows in the transit system. This week’s installment features the theme “Moving South” from artists you may have heard underground. First, Remy Francois, a singer and guitar player who brings his unique blend of his Haitian heritage, blues, gospel and folk, will perform in the park. Next, Muhamadu Salieu Suso performs at 12:30 pm. Suso hails from a West African Gambian family and is a leader in bringing Gambian, as well as African, music to the states. Finally, Edgar and Geo will play a show at 1:00 pm. Edgar Paucar is an accomplished Andean flute player, and Geo Suquillo fuses a variety of music along with his Ecuadorian heritage into his style. Today’s performances are a great chance to get some great and unique free music while enjoying your lunch on a nice day.
