It’s 7/11 today, which can mean only one thing…
The annual “Free Slurpee Day” at 7-Eleven.
You may recall there was a similar “SlurpFree Day” back in May, but I think that was a one-time event to promote new flavors. Today is the the true free Slurpee day, as the chain celebrates its 85th birthday.
The UWS has two stores, located at 676 Amsterdam (at 93rd) and 600 Columbus (at 89th) (a third one is slated to open in the old Gourmet Garage spot at Broadway & 96th).
If you’re at work or elsewhere in the city, you can use their store locator to find one that might be closer to you.
The event runs unti 7:00 pm today, or “while supplies last.” They’re using special 7.11 oz cups and I believe each store has a limited number of them (I read 1000 cups each somewhere — not sure if that’s accurate).
If you want to get your slurp on, I’d recommend going earlier rather than later. It’s first-come, first-served.
