Interesting event in the neighborhood tonight at Stand Up NY, where co-owner Dani Zoldan is trying to eliminate 1980s stigmas associated with comedy clubs by mixing in social media and non-traditional events.

Tonight they’re hosting three popular bloggers for a mixer of sorts, including a Q & A session, followed by a stand-up set featuring three comedians.

Best of all, while the event is $10 for most, it’s free for Upper West Siders.

If you live in the neighborhood — 59th to 125th, between CWP and the Hudson — the $10 admission fee is waived. Ideally you have some sort of ID to show you’re an Upper West Sider, but I was told they’re willing to take your word if you don’t (my driver’s license still says I live in Westchester, 10 years after the fact). Also, unlike most shows at the club, there’s no drink-minimum for this event.

Tonight’s featured bloggers include:

As an added bonus, Naomi from 365 Scoops will be giving out free ice cream and sorbet!

Even though it’s free for those in the neighborhood, reservations are still encouraged, as there’s only so much space. You can call 212-595-0850 or e-mail laugh@standupny.com.

Stand Up NY is located on West 78th, between Broadway & Amsterdam. Tonight’s event runs from 7:00 – 9:00 pm.
