Gus and Gabriel Update
Last week, we reported that Gus and Gabriel Gastropub (79th between Broadway and Amsterdam) is closing next month. The tip came from an insider with little information given about owner Michael Psilakis’ plans for the space. Now, Grub Street reports that Gus and Gabriel won’t permanently disappear. The restaurant will follow the trend of Psilakis’ other startup restaurants, moving from the 79th Street location to a new one (first, Onera started and 79th and later moved 27 blocks downtown to be reborn as Anthos; next, Kefi moved from 79th to their current location on Columbus between 84th and 85th). Meanwhile, Psilakis intends to open a new concept, yet to be determined, at the 79th Street location as soon as possible after the Gus and Gabriel closing.
