Hardcore Apple Fans Line Up Around the Block at UWS Store for iPhone 4

Apple released the iPhone 4 in stores around New York City this morning, and our friends at Racked braved the crowds to report from the line at the Upper West Side Apple Store (Broadway at 67th). Store employees reported that the line formed around noon yesterday, with most making their way to the line around 5:00 am today. By the time the store opened its doors (only letting in 10 with reservations and 10 without at a time), the line wrapped around the block, starting at the door on Broadway between 67th and 68th, heading down 67th, up Amsterdam, down 68th to Broadway, and back around to Amsterdam. Those waiting in line were relatively subdued, happily enjoying the free Starbucks iced coffee and pastries passed out in line. At the time they reported, Racked warned those without reservations that many of the iPhones are already out of stock, so if you are looking to pick one up, you may want to wait until the new shipment of phones tomorrow.
