More Harmony Atrium Progress

Future vision of the Harmony Atrium
We are getting the feeling that Lincoln Center’s Harmony Atrium (Broadway between 62nd and 63rd) is nearing completion. The space, currently being remodeled to be “a community gathering place for free performances and civic events,” has construction workers puttering away around the clock, and the former barriers preventing the public from seeing progress have been removed. The goal announced a few months ago was to have the atrium completed in time for the 50th anniversary celebrations of Lincoln Center, which started in May. With that deadline coming and going without the atrium’s completion, Lincoln Center is giving it another shot with a new deadline, now aiming for a November 12th opening. We just might see the finished product, complete with 20-foot-high walls of plants and rods of water, by the November deadline. Click through for photos of the site in July and September, respectively.
