Hipsters and Hassids on the Upper West Side
Although the Upper West Side is not exactly known for art galleries and a plethora of art-world-culture, every once in a while, we get an interesting art event. Monday is the opening of one such event, “Hipsters and Hassids.” Come to the Aish Center (83rd between West End Avenue and Riverside Drive) starting Monday for a limited engagement of the painting series. “Hipsters and Hassids” celebrates two diverse cultural groups who maintain an uneasy coexistence in the creatively charged neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Sudin paints portraits and urban landscapes to reflect the similarities these groups have despite their conflicting values and lifestyles. The opening of the exhibition will be celebrated on Monday evening from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm with a reception. A $10 donation is appreciated.
