I tried putting together an events post for today, but the effort was futile… Irene has sucked the life out of New York City this weekend.

Just about every Upper West Side institution you can think of is closed today and tomorrow. With mass transit shutting down at noon, lots of businesses are also shuttered due to employees not being able to get to work.

If you have a book you’ve been meaning to read, today would be a good day to start it…
