Upper West Sider Bari Simon was bartending at the Dive Bars (the great little bars with locations on 75th near Columbus, Amsterdam between 95th and 96th, and Broadway near 101st) when noticing not only the public’s increased interest in obtaining quality beer, but also the lack of a convenient and readily-accessible source to help link consumers with the necessary information.  To fill the gap, Simon has created the What’s On Tap? iPhone app.  This full-service and custom-friendly tool connects users to the tradition, quality and hand-crafted artistry of craft beer by allowing them to search by current location, specific region or beer name and providing them with accurate, real time information on menus, descriptions, tastings and special events.  In addition to a beer locator, the app offers “Beer O’Clock,” an alert system on special events, tastings and discounts in your current location, sync-able with your iPhone calendar; a place to record favorite craft beer bars and beers for subsequent visits; a Brew Encyclopedia with detailed craft beer descriptions and brewery information; and a Members Area, where craft establishment owners can easily manage and update menus and daily deals.  Best of all?  It’s free!  Visit the What’s On Tap website to check it out, and download it to get started on finding great craft beers on the Upper West Side.
