Sad news… a 26-year-old man died around 3:00 am this morning when the car he was a passenger crashed on the Henry Hudson Parkway near 96th Street.
The 2002 Audi crashed into the wall separating Riverside Park from the northbound HHP. As you can see from the photo above, the collision was violent enough to have destroyed a portion of the wall.
Two other people in the car — the 20-year-old driver and an 18-year-old passenger — were taken to the hospital in stable condition.
It appears from the report that this was one-car accident, with the Audi flipping over after striking the wall/guard rail.
Police are investigating the accident.
DNAinfo photographer David Torres has a few additional photos from other angles that show the extent of the damage along the Riverside Park walkway.
