Lincoln Center Festival Ends Today, Mostly Mozart and Out of Doors Starts this Week

summer-at-lincoln-centerSummer at Lincoln Center is moving along quickly, with one series coming to a close and two others starting up.  The Lincoln Center Festival, a celebration of classical art from all around the world that particularly focuses on unconventional destinations for art, concludes today after a fantastic two and a half week run.  Today, Thai dance is celebrated with Chui Chai and the critically acclaimed show The Battle of Stalingrad returns for two more shows.

After the Lincoln Center Festival winds down, art fans will still be able to get their fix by enjoying Mostly Mozart, opening Tuesday, and Lincoln Center Out of Doors, opening Wednesday.  Mostly Mozart was launched in 1966 as “Midsummer Serenades: A Mozart Festival.”  After two seasons consisting entirely of the music of Mozart, the festival was reworked as Mostly Mozart, a Mozart-and-more festival designed to provide a more informal ambiance for concert-going, offering relatively inexpensive ticket prices and attracting both those who might not go to a more formal classical music concert during the season as well as the sophisticated music lover.  This season’s festival kicks off with the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra, with tickets starting at only $35.  Looking to pay less?  Consider Lincoln Center Out of Doors.  This series features incredible art, music, dance, and entertainment, all for free.  Wednesday is opening day for the festival, with a street theater production of No Snakes in the Grass and a musical performance of string quartet ETHEL featuring many special guests.
