UPDATE 12/4: Syms/Filene’s Increases Liquidation Sale Discount Again; Now Starting At 25% Off

The beginning of the end…

If you missed the news earlier in the month, Syms and its subsidiary Filene’s Basement filed for bankruptcy and announced they were closing all their stores.

It appears as though the liquidation process has started at the Upper West Side outpost on Broadway, between 79th & 80th.

Discounts are ranging from 10% – 30% at the moment. I suspect that if you wait a bit longer, the discounts will get larger. However, the longer you wait, the greater the risk that the only things left for purchase are size XXXL and fuchsia colored.

The liquidation is expected to be completed by January. If you’re planning to shop this weekend, note that the store is closing early on Sunday (5:00 pm) for inventory.

If you’re looking for seasonal work, there’s a note on the door that they’re hiring.
