The next Parks Department camp-out is just around the corner and the lottery for one of the coveted 30 available spots is going on throughout the day today.

While previous camp-outs have been in Central Park, this one will be in Inwood Hill Park. Obviously Inwood is a little north of the Upper West Side, but it’s close enough that I think it’s worth mentioning. This is a great event for anyone with kids, grand-kids, nieces, or nephews.

Unlike Central Park, Inwood Hill Park is largely natural (i.e. non-landscaped). It’s the largest remaining forest land on the Island of Manhattan.

The actual camp-out event will take place from 6 pm Friday, August 19th, to 7 am, Saturday, August 20th.

As I’ve written in previous posts about earlier lotteries, I’m pretty sure this is an event for families.
