maceo-parkerJazz at Lincoln Center, located at Frederick P. Rose Hall in the Time Warner Center (60th and Broadway), is hosting a funk pioneer this weekend.  Maceo Parker, perhaps best known as the second-in-command to the legendary James Brown, helped define funk from its origins.  Parker, a true saxophone master, will come to the Allen room to play and sing music he recorded with James Brown and classic R&B tunes from his recent salute to Ray Charles.  It’s a great chance to see a master in his field do what he does best… bring on the funk.
