The Magic of Pickling at AMNH
Are you a lover of all things pickled? Then tomorrow’s special event at the American Museum of Natural History (Central Park West at 79th) is for you. Pickling is a culinary technique that has been around for centuries and is done by preserving foods in salt brine or vinegar. Tomorrow’s AMNH event invites Lucy Norris, an oral historian, ethnographer, and author of Pickled: Preserving a World of Tastes and Traditions and local pickle maker Bob McClure of McClure’s Pickles to explain what makes a pickle a pickle, why pickles are found in so many cultures, and what other foods take well to pickling. The $20 event admission price includes a tasting.
