Man Injured by Tree Branch in Central Park Sues City, Conservancy
The branch that struck Blair-Goldensohn
Ever since Google engineer Sasha Blair-Goldensohn was struck by a rotted falling tree limb while walking to work in Central Park’s west side near 63rd on the morning July 29th, he has been in the hospital, suffering from “sustained severe brain damage, spinal fractures and spinal-cord damage resulting in paralysis, respiratory and other serious injuries, all of which have required multiple operations.” Now, Blair-Goldenstein is suing the city and the Central Park Conservancy for $120 million, according to Gothamist and the New York Post. The Post also writes that city’s Parks Department had conceded that the 100-pound limb had been rotten for quite some time prior to the accident, and its falling was not the result of a storm or wind. Blair-Goldenstein, 33, has a wife (also named as a plaintiff in the suit) and two young daughters.
