Margaret Mead Film & Video Festival Starts Tomorrow
The 33rd annual Margaret Mead Film and Video Festival opens tomorrow with some intriguing and entertaining films. The American Museum of Natural History (Central Park West and 79th) hosts the festival, which now takes the title of the longest-running premiere showcase for international documentaries in the United States, and which encompasses a broad spectrum of work, from indigenous community media to experimental nonfiction. The festival runs from Thursday, November 12th to Sunday, November 15th, and includes a wide range of documentaries from around the world. Tomorrow marks opening night with a fascinating look at what keeps the armies of the world going… food. Filmmaker Peter Kerekes revisits its mess halls and field kitchens, asking the cooks to recreate the meals they served at the front in Cooking History by Peter Kerekes.
