Mead Film Festival Continues Today with DJ Spooky
It’s the final day of the Margaret Mead Film & Video Festival, this year’s edition of the longest-running international documentary festival in the country held at the American Museum of Natural History (Central Park West at 79th). Come to the museum this afternoon to experience “DJ Spooky and the Science of Terra Nova.” You can explore the science and history behind Terra Nova: Sinfonia Antarctica, a new multimedia performance by Paul D. Miller, aka DJ Spooky. Terra Nova was inspired by sound recordings of ice melting made by Miller in a recording studio he brought to Antarctica. The program includes research data, samples of the work in process, and archival footage from AMNH special collections. DJ Spooky will be in conversation with Heidi Cullen of Climate Central and the event is to be moderated by Andrew Revkin of the New York Times.
