Two ‘pop-up’ chapels will be used for 24 marriages on the Upper West Side next weekend, the first Saturday when same-sex marriage will be legal. 24 is for June 24th, the date the law was passed.
According to the New York Times, designs for the chapels are still being submitted and two finalists will be selected:
According to the rules of the contest, designs must be installed in no more than two hours, and have a footprint no larger than 8 feet by 8 feet. A jury of architects and wedding planners will select two winning submissions, whose designers will receive $3,000 for construction and installation.
The chapels will be located at Merchant’s Gate, the entrance to Central Park near Columbus Circle.
I wonder when these two guys are going to be able to get their license.
