The Met’s Summer HD Festival Begins Saturday
Although the Metropolitan Opera theater is dark for the summer, you can still come out and enjoy some of the best The Met has to offer… for free! Starting Saturday, The Met is putting on the first Summer HD Festival, in which ten of the opera house’s best productions will be screened in Lincoln Center’s Josie Roberston Plaza (Columbus at 64th) in HD. The HD filmings were part of the Peabody and Emmy-award winning Live in HD series, so it will be a fabulous experience to enjoy these productions in the beautiful surroundings of Lincoln Center’s open-air plaza. Each evening begins around 7:30 pm to 8:00 pm, and the 2800 free seats are first-come, first-served, so gather together a nice picnic dinner and get there early. There is no rain date for each event, so let’s all hope for some good weather over the next few days. A full schedule of the festival is listed below by clicking through.
