MONDAY 7/8: Actor Michael Cera Appearing At UWS FilmLinc For Free “Summer Talks” Series

Monday, July 8th, 2013

Nice free event tonight if you’re looking for some last-minute plans:

Actor Michael Cera (Arrested Development, Superbad, Juno) is appearing at the Upper West Side Film Society Of Lincoln Center to discuss his latest film, Crystal Fairy.

The event is part of FilmLinc’s free “Summer Talks” series and will also include the film’s director, Sebastián Silva.

The details from FilmLinc:

New York-based Chilean filmmaker Sebastián Silva took his cast and crew on a fun ride when making Crystal Fairy, one of two feature films he had at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Produced by Pablo Larraín, director of last year’s No (NYFF50), Crystal Fairy is based on a real road trip from Silva’s youth.

Michael Cera stars as an American tourist who encounters a wanderer (played by Gaby Hoffman) during a Chilean vacation. The two of them, along with a group of locals (played by Silva’s real-life brothers) embark on a journey in search of an elusive hallucinogenic cactus that leads them to unexpected places.

Director Sebastián Silva and star Michael Cera will be on hand to discuss the journey, on screen and off, of his road trip comedy Crystal Fairy in this very special Summer Talk.

The event starts at 7:00 pm at the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center amphitheater (144 W. 65th, between Broadway & Amsterdam).

Tickets are free and will be available from the box office on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 6:00 pm, although I suspect a line will form before then.

There a limit of one ticket per person, so if you’re planning to go with someone else, you both need to be in line together.
