Monthly Casual UWS Meet Up Tomorrow Afternoon For Upper West Siders Who Work At Home

Tuesday, April 17th, 2012

This month’s “meet-up” for Upper West Siders who work from home will take place tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon.

Organized by MUW reader @wiljr, this will be the seventh monthly gathering on the Upper West Side. The meetings are one-part “discuss the challenges and benefits of working from home” and one-part “get out your apartment and chill for a bit.”

After months of conflicts, I was finally able to attend the last meeting in March. I thought I’d be there for an hour or two and ended up leaving the bar at 9:00 pm.

Conversation alternated between work and social stuff and it was a great opportunity to meet some really interesting people from around the neighborhood. Plus, I got mildly drunk in the middle of the day. [Note: Don't go on an empty stomach]

If you work from home and live in the neighborhood, stop by for a beer (or soda) and a break from the monotony of sitting at “the office” alone all day. Barring the unforeseen, I’m going to try and make it over there again.

The action goes down at The Dead Poet (450 Amsterdam, between 81st & 82nd) from about 2:00 – 4:00 pm (and possibly later) on Wednesday, 4/18.

There’s no obligation to arrive by a certain hour or stay for any predefined length of time — it’s a pretty casual affair.

Wil put together a post on his site that includes a brief FAQ if you’d like to know more. He’ll be easy to identify at the bar — just look for the guy with a copy of the Beastie Boys’ Check Your Head next to him:
