On Monday I had a post about the big news that the New York City Opera was leaving its home at Lincoln Center.

Given the interest it generated, I figured I’d mention two follow-up pieces in the New York Times that focus on the issues at hand, including possible complications for David H. Koch Theater co-tenant, the New York City Ballet. You can read them here and here.

Additionally, Bloomberg.com has the always salacious salary details for various NYCO staff. Artistic & General Director George Steel’s $407,560 income is sure to be a focal point for some people. It’s more than his predecessor, much more than anyone else at NYCO, he’s got basically no opera management experience, and it’s quite possible he’s in the process of driving the organization out of business.

Also, just to clarify in case there’s any confusion: New York City Opera and The Metropolitan Opera are NOT the same thing. While the former is leaving Lincoln Center, the latter ain’t going nowhere.
