Movies Under the Stars: Wall Street
“Greed, for lack of a better word, is good.” Follow the advice of Gordon Gekko tonight and save some money by catching a free movie! Riverside Park’s Movies Under the Stars is a series of free movies held at Pier I at 70th in the park, all with a common theme. This year’s series theme is “Nieuw York/New York - films that span the centuries, in honor of the Hudson River Quadricentennial.”
Tonight’s movie is the classic hit Wall Street (1987) starring Michael Douglas, Charlie Sheen, and Darryl Hannah and directed by Oliver Stone. It’s about a slick young broker (Sheen) who does anything to get ahead, with the help of the personification of greed itself, Gordon Gekko (Douglas). If you haven’t seen it, it’s a must see, and even if you’ve seen it so much that you have the “Greed” speech memorized, it’s a great flick to catch on a nice summer night in the park.
