Mostly Mozart Festival Begins Today
Lincoln Center’s annual Mostly Mozart festival begins today, running through August 22nd. The festival features a series of events from orchestral concerts to operas to dancing to film, and it has expanded throughout the years well beyond the realm of simply celebrating the genius of Mozart. However, while artists other than Mozart are often featured in the festival, all draw influence and inspiration from Mozart’s music.
Tonight’s event should be a great way to kick off the festival. Louis Langrée will conduct the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra while they perform works by Beethoven, Haydn, and Mozart. The performance, taking place at Avery Fisher Hall (Columbus and 65th), will feature the highly respected classical pianist Lief Ove Andsnes.
