Careful out there… muggings have been reported recently in the neighborhood, reminding us all to stay aware of our surroundings. My Upper West tipster Karen S. reports that her roommate was mugged on 89th and Columbus on Friday night. Her roommate was reportedly walking from the B/C subway station when two young men hit her from behind and stole her purse. While the victim did not get a good look at the men, she said they were Spanish speaking.
Another recent mugging occurred in Central Park. A 53-year-old man was on West Drive near the 72nd Street Transverse last Tuesday night when he was approached by an unarmed man who demanded money. While the mugger did not get away with money, he did steal the victim’s iPhone and headphones. A description of the thief was not given. [NY Post]
Any tips about these incidents can be reported to the local police precinct.
