Musical Suppers at the New York Philharmonic
After acclaim and popular demand, the New York Philharmonic is putting on a second season of Musical Suppers, a post-concert dinner series featuring some of New York’s most celebrated chefs. The Friday evening suppers, hosted by food critic Mimi Sheraton, take place at Arpeggio Food and Wine in Avery Fisher Hall (Columbus and 65th). Joining the diners will be Philharmonic musicians and guest artists, President and Executive Director Zarin Mehta, Music Director Alan Gilbert (at the suppers that follow his concerts) and the chefs themselves. Ms. Sheraton will introduce the chefs and discuss their menus with them. Chefs scheduled for this season include Kurt Gutenbrunner, chef/co-owner of Wallse, Blaue Gans and Neue Gallerie; André Soltner, much loved chef-owner of famed restaurant Lutece; Alaine Ducasse, chef at the Adour Alain Ducasse at the St. Regis New York; Marcus Samuelsson, who made history with Aquavit and is now about to open the much awaited restaurant Red Rooster in Harlem; and Michael White, chef of Marea, Alto, Ai Fiori (scheduled to open in November 2010), and Osteria Morini (opening in September 2010). Seating is limited to 70 guests per supper, and tickets to each supper, at $225 per person, are available now.
