If you couldn’t stand waiting one more day for the official opening of the new UWS Century 21 (Braodway & 66th), the feeling was apparently mutual — the store opened today, one day earlier than planned.

@ReporterLeslie was on hand for a ribbon cutting ceremony with Mayor Bloomberg this morning. While the store had a soft-opening last week for VIP Loyalty card-holders, today is the first day it’s open to everyone.

The store’s hours are 9:00 am – 10:00 pm, Monday – Saturday, and 11:00 am – 8:00 pm on Sunday. Note that they’ll be closed on 9/29, 9/30, and 10/8 in observance of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

I’ve received a slew of messages from readers about the new store, and opinions seem to fall into one of four categories:

  1. Those who ecstatic there’s a C21 on the UWS
  2. Those who hate that Barnes & Noble closed, and thus hate C21 by extension
  3. Those who hate ALL chains and want the UWS to be nothing but mom & pop shops
  4. Those who don’t care. At all.

As my girlfriend will be the first to tell you, I’m in dire need of some new clothes. I normally head to the outlets in Jersey, but I’m definitely intrigued by having a possible alternative option in the neighborhood. I’ve never been to a Century 21, so I’m curious to see if it’s as good as my friends who are C21 devotees claim.
