It was early and some people may have not yet been fully awake, but alert viewers of Friday morning’s Nicki Minaj concert in Central Park got an eyeful — the R&B/rap star experienced the dreaded “nipple slip.”

People.com reports:

When Minaj rocked the stage at Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield, her crop top began to slip, leaving her more than a little exposed.

But the show must go on! Although Minaj – whose colorful stage gear was accented by graphic-print pants and an umbrella-like skirt – seemed stunned when she caught the wardrobe malfunction, she pulled her top back up and continued her set, which included hits like “Moment 4 Life” and “Super Bass.”

Apparently the director for Good Morning American hadn’t had his or her coffee yet, because despite a 5-second delay, the Minaj’s left nipple managed to make its world debut during the broadcast:

“Although we had a five-second delay in place for the Nicki Minaj concert on GMA, the live East Coast feed of the concert regrettably included certain fleeting images of the performer that were taken out of later feeds of the broadcast in other times zones,” a rep for ABC said. “We are sorry that this occurred.”

EntertainmentWeekly.com has a quote from watchdog group “The Parents Television Council,” which rather predictably reacted as if the sun had just exploded:

“For the umpteenth time in recent memory we have a morning news broadcast airing explicit content when millions of families are starting their day and are looking to get caught up on the news,” said PTC president Tim Winter. “With so many such instances, the network apologies are beyond hollow. Today we call upon the executive producers of the Today Show, Good Morning America and the CBS Morning News programs to meet together and establish best practices to prevent these sucker-punch moments. If the networks are sincere about their apologies, they will work together to implement meaningful solutions.”

Hard to think of a more ridiculous, reactionary subset of society than the one that issues press statements over 2 second-long nipple exposures. I wonder if these people make their kids take baths with their clothes on.
