Openings and Closings on the UWS: Updates

Racked strolled by the soon-to-be Burberry location at 67th and Columbus recently to find the progress moving surprisingly fast. Not only is Emma Watson’s Burberry-clad image plastered on the storefront, but workers are reportedly moving building materials in at a rapid pace. We may see an opening of this high-end retail store soon.
Another update in store openings is the latest in the Bombolini saga… the Italian filled doughnut shop coming in at Columbus near 68th burst our bubble for the umpteenth time when it missed its grand opening date again. The promised opening of last weekend didn’t take place, leaving the eager public doughnut-less. The New York Times reported a new opening date of yesterday (March 17th), but we haven’t had a chance to stop by yet. Tell us at “alerts [at] myupperwest.com”… did it happen?
In other opening news, both baby retailer Giggle and cupcake shop Crumbs are gearing up to open on the ground floor near the Equinox on Amsterdam between 76th and 77th. Crumbs will move to the space after previously being located a block away. Thanks to My Upper West tipster Zekio D. for the update.
Finally, our closing news comes from a glitch in Monday’s UWS blogger meet-up… Pudding Stones Wine Bar, the meeting spot for Monday’s gathering located on Amsterdam and 91st, has recently closed its doors. Fortunately, a little thing like a closing didn’t bring anyone down, and the meet-up proceeded at The Parlour (86th and Broadway), where attendees had some cocktails and fun.
Did you spot an opening or closing on the Upper West Side? Tell us… send as much information as possible to “alerts [at] myupperwest.com,” and we might post it!
