Photos of the Day: 2011 NYC Half Marathon
It was a chilly 37 degrees yesterday morning when the 2011 NYC Half Marathon kicked off in Central Park, and enthusiastic spectators dealt with the chill as the 10,000-plus runners warmed up naturally on the 13.1-mile course. Conditions must have been fantastic for running, as the men’s race produced five of the 10 fastest times in the event’s history. Great Britain’s Mo Farah, running the longest race of his life, won the race in a stunning 1:00:23, the third-fastest time ever run on the course. On the women’s pro side, all three podium finishers beat Mara Yamauchi’s course record from last year, with Caroline Rotich of Kenya breaking away in the final miles, winning in 1:08:52.
