President Obama & The First Lady Heading To The UWS This Afternoon

Monday, September 24th, 2012

President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama are coming to the Upper West Side today.

The couple is taping an episode of The View at ABC’s studios in the West 60s — it is their first joint appearance on the show.

The taping is tentatively scheduled for around 4:10 pm today.

Mr. Obama last appeared on The View in May, heading to the studio after giving the commencement speech at Barnard College.

This will be the president’s fourth trip to the UWS this year. In addition to his May visit, he attended a fundraiser on W. 67th Street in March and was back again last month for campaign events.

Details of the appearance are available on websites for both The View and ABC News.

The View is taped at ABC’s studios at 320 W. 66th (at West End). You can expect an immense security presence and gridlock conditions in the area this afternoon — I would definitely avoid it by car/bus/taxi.

If you’re curious about what the area may look like, below is a video shot during Mr. Obama’s last appearance on the show in May. If you get tired of the pregame and commentary, the president’s motorcade appears en masse at around the 3:40 mark.
