Pro-Pooch Residents at One Lincoln Plaza Get Temporary Victory over Board
One Lincoln Plaza, the high-rise on Broadway between 63rd and 64th, has been getting some media attention this week over a fight between dog-loving residents and the building’s board. The board met on Tuesday night to vote on a new set of rules for pet owners in the building, including a ban on breeds like Doberman Pinschers, Rottweilers, and Pit Bulls, a rule restricting dogs from passenger elevators, a requirement that dogs wear ID tags at all times, and a maximum on the number of hours dogs can be left at home alone (after nine hours, management would be allowed to remove the dog from the home). Violation of these rules would have imposed a $250 fine. Dog owners upset about the proposed rules saw a victory at the board meeting, as the rules were scrapped in the vote. Dog owners are thrilled with the win, but they fear the board will take up the issue again to try to instill similar rules in the future. Read the full story at Gothamist and the New York Daily News.
