Racked NY, a leading blog about shopping, retail stores, and the retail scene of NYC, began compiling retail changes for the UES in November. This week, they decided to extend the research to the UWS, documenting the empty storefronts along the main Broadway, Amsterdam, and Columbus corridors. The list, with an accompanying map, is up to 27 empty storefronts. But, as Racked mentions, “the situation is not so dire.” Quite a few stores still stand strong, the streets remain crowded with shoppers, and the recent and upcoming openings of the UWS Apple Store and Trader Joe’s, respectively, signal a neighborhood with a retail pulse. Visit Racked NY’s complete list to see their compilation of empty storefronts.
