Reckless Bike Delivery Men Get Stern Warning from Community Board 7

Reckless cyclists are getting some more backlash from pedestrians and drivers after Community Board 7 went after a subset of them with threats, reports the New York Post.  Members of the board cautioned that they will withhold UWS restaurants’ much-needed support for sidewalk and liquor-license renewals if their bike delivery men ignore bike-safety measures.  While the current law requires delivery cyclists to display business names and phone numbers prominently on their shirts and carry ID cards with the business name, residents’ complaints of cyclists illegally riding on sidewalks and endangering pedestrians has prompted the board to issue their warning.  As it stands, time will tell whether Community Board 7 makes good on their threats as a result of the illegal and unsafe activities of cyclists.  Read the full story at the New York Post.
