Posted about this a couple of a weeks ago, but given the earlier news of another rape on the UWS, I figured a reminder was in order.

A free self-defense class is being offered in Central Park this coming Sunday (10/7).

It’s open to everyone over the age of 13, but I believe it’s specifically designed for females.

The event is co-sponsored by City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and council members Gale Brewer, Jessica Lappin, and Melissa Mark Viverito.

It was organized in the aftermath of last month’s shocking and horrific daytime rape near Strawberry Field in Central Park.

The class will be conducted by instructors from the Center For Anti-Violence Education.
