Restaurant Special: Menu d’Economie at Picholine
With the economy having seen better days, many retail stores and restaurants have become understanding and began including “recession specials.” High-end restaurant Picholine (64th between Broadway and Central Park West) is one of those restaurants, offering a special “Menu d’Economie.” This restaurant, which, according to New York Magazine, “aspires to lofty heights, and reaches them,” typically charges $92 for a three-course dinner, not including wine. But if you don’t have several hundred dollars to drop on a meal, Picholine’s Menu d’Economie is a solution. The menu is available Tuesdays through Saturdays in the Cheese and Wine Bar, and offers either a “Tasting Flight” of three out of several gourmet choices for $20 or a one course “Tasting Plate” for $15. There are also specials on cheese and desserts, and additional recession special menus that cost a little more (see their full menu list here). It’s a great way to enjoy a foodie experience at a gourmet restaurant without breaking the bank.
Ongoing, Tuesdays through Saturdays, $15-$20
